Fossilized Friends

February 22nd, 2012 | By Christine in museums, personal, photography | 1 Comment »

My favorite thing to do on holiday Mondays is to go to museums and have a nice wander (like last Memorial Day). This Presidents Day I went to the American Museum of Natural History for the first time in a couple years. I walked among my fossilized and taxidermied friends, while practicing focusing on my Nikon D3100 (christened J.D. Fitzgerald, but you can call him Fitz — I believe that all important things in my life should have names), which my friend Joyce helped me pick out back in November. But I am still novice, and have been having some focus issues, so this was a great day to work on that.

I love little T-rex arms.

This tortoise and I go back. He’s very smiley, which I like in a friend.

This guy reminds me of something Tim Burton would draw.

This guy was great! Very inspiring.

This picture cracks me up. It looks like the Easter Island head is holding a press conference, and the woman in front of him facing the audience is his rep.

This wall makes me want to be four inches tall and wander the forest. Which reminds me, I really enjoyed The Secret World of Arrietty, which I saw on Saturday.

And of course the whale.

I wish one day to witness the whale being cleaned.

Ben’s the Only Girl in the World

Early Saturday morning clean-up and YouTube listening, and found this great video of Ben Ottewell of Gomez singing a Rihanna cover, to put himself out of his comfort zone.

Little Talks

‘Little Talks’ by Of Monsters and Men, Icelandic band.

At first I was just in love with the song and its lyrics, but this video captures my imagination! The immediate effect is that I quite fancy an adventure asap.
